Things to do in Splitska
Swimming Platform
Walk down the hill from the house for 3 minutes and you’ll find yourself at the swimming platform!
2 paddle boards are available on request.
There is natural shade and a shower. If the platform is busy find a shady spot on the rocks
Eating and Drinking
The village has one bar by the water and 3 restaurants.
Skalinda Bar serves coffee, beer, wine and cocktails
Restaurants:
The Vala is located on the corner and we would recommend the fish and steaks.
Villa Marija is great for pizza and pasta . also serves a great breakfast and icecream.
Kod Tonca also serves local dalmatian food, again good for meat and fish.
Above the village, the Panorama Restaurant‘s food has a modern twist on Croatian classics. As the name suggests, it has a great view.
Also in the village is a small Studenac supermarket where you can buy all your basic groceries including daily fresh bread.
Things to do on Brač
Best Beaches on Brač
Nearest to the house is Zastup beach. In the summer, there is a small kiosk. It has a large roped off area for swimming and a portaloo.
If you take the old road to Postira (2.5km), the first village beach you come to is Beach Prja. To reach it, you need to leave the road and walk down the stone steps. There is a beach bar and from there you can walk into Postira village with its selection of waterfront bars and restaurants.
On the far side of Postira is Mala Lozna. I can recommend the restaurant there Bistro Levant which serves great food, including vegan and vegetarian options and tasty cakes.
Lovrecina beach is the islands only sandy beach, with clear shallow water. Ideal for children. Under the pine trees is a bar/café and a separate restaurant . Most easily reached by car or bike.
Zlatni Rat
Brac’s most famous beach makes a great day out. You can rent a sunbed and umbrella and spend the day on the beach eating at the stalls that sell fresh fruit, fish and chips, burgers, or grab an icecream or a cocktail. From the beach you can walk or take a boat to Bol town.
How to find/avoid a Nudist Beach
If you walk the old road to Postira, you will pass the nudist beach. These are usually marked by a sign like this.
Supetar
Supetar is the main town on the island and where most people arrive on the car ferry. Walk around the harbor, visit the fish market and the stalls selling local products such as lavender oil and olive oil.
Walk as far as the cemetery and see the Petrinovic Family Mausoleum and tombstones made by Croatia’s great sculptor Ivan Rendic.

Cafe Bars/Restaurants
There is a wide choice of places to eat and drink in Supetar. Pause for coffee and an icecream at Café Barbara. Stop for excellent burgers and a choice of beers at the Beer Garden.
Walk round the harbour for a more modern take on Dalmatian food at the Hotel Osam. Or take a seat in their Roof Top Bar and watch the sun go down.
Ferry Information
Ferry times and frequency change depending on the time of year and there may be less sailings on a Sunday. So please check before you travel. If you are taking your car, ferries can be busy in the summer months, especially at the weekends. You cannot book a space on the ferry so please turn up early as you may not get on the first ferry!
Tickets can be brought on line, using the Jadrolinija app or in the ticket office in Supetar.
Skrip
Situated above Splitska is the oldest village on the island. The Olive Oil Museum is worth visiting. Hear about the history of olive oil production on the island. 30 kuna entry includes an olive oil tasting or you can upgrade to include olive pate, brac cheese and wine.
While you are in Skrip visit the Castle and the Cemetery. Or take a tour of the Island of Brac Museum.
Bol and Zlatni Rat
Bol is on the southern side of the island and can be reached by bus or car. Due to the winding road, it takes about an hour to drive from Splitska. It’s the oldest town on the coast of Brac.
Its famous beach is Zlatni Rat, which constantly changes shape. It’s a great place to learn to windsurf, kitesurf or scuba dive.
If you drive to Bol, you can take a detour to Vidova Gora, the highest point on the island. You get a bird’s eye view of Zlatni Rat beach and they say on a clear day you can see Italy!
Cafe Bars/Restaurants
There are selection of restaurants along the sea front. Sit on the upstairs terrace at Taverna Riva and try the scampi buzzara.
Don’t miss the opportunity to taste the wine at the Stina Winery. You can either sit outside and have a drink or two, or book yourself a wine tasting with food.
Ferry Information
From Bol, you can take the catamaran to Jelsa on Hvar. This is a really pretty town with some excellent restaurants and wine tasting opportunities. However, the ferry only goes once a day, leaving Bol late afternoon and returning very early in the morning.
There is a new service connecting Bol directly to Split and Split airport which runs in the summer months.
Milna
Milna is a favourite nautical port with two well equipped marinas – a great place to watch the ships go by. You can hire a small boat here and sail round the coast or visit Solta, tying up at a waterside restaurant for freshly caught fish.
The harbour is lined with beautiful old stone buildings and you can visit the beautiful church.
Cafe Bars/Restaurants in Milna
There are many to choose from. Great pizza’s at Pizzeria Slika or the Restoran Galicija gets consistently good reviews.
I like to sit by the water at Hotel Olife. You can eat or just have a glass of wine while you watch the world go by.
Across the other side of the bay is the Milna Osam Hotel. Here, you can eat on the terrace under the trees.
Ferry Information
Milna is the place that connects the island to its neighbors (Hvar, Korcula, Vis) and mainland Split by Catamaran. Please carefully check timetables as they vary throughout the year.
Other recommendations
Spend the day on the sea with our friends Lynn and John at Sunburst Sailing! Visit beautiful bays hard to reach by road and swim in crystal clear water. John provides a great lunch.
Wine tasting and food at the Senjkovic Winery, situated in the tiny village of Dracevica. Must be booked in advance.
Dinner and or Cocktails at the Lemon Garden in Sutivan.
Full moon kayaking from Postira.
